# Cookie policy

Which cookies html-pdf.com uses, why, and how to change your choice. We keep it minimal.

Last updated: 15 October 2026.

## The short version

We use **essential cookies** to keep you logged in and to stop abuse of the free credits. Analytics cookies are **only set if you click Accept** in the banner. Visit statistics from Plausible use no cookies at all.

## Cookies and storage we use

| name | type | purpose | duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| `hp_session` | Essential | Keeps you logged in to the dashboard | 90 days |
| `hp_consent` (local storage) | Essential | Remembers your cookie choice | Until you clear it |
| `hp_bid` (cookie and local storage) | Essential (security) | A random ID for this browser, set when you sign up, log in or use the converter. It stops the free credits from being claimed again with a second account. Not used for analytics or ads | 2 years |
| `ph_*` (cookie and local storage) | Analytics, optional | PostHog product analytics. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland only after you accept. Elsewhere it is on by default and you can turn it off in Cookie settings | Up to 1 year |

Essential storage doesn't need consent because the site can't work without it. Plausible Analytics counts visits without cookies or personal data.

Some account activity (signups, conversions, purchases) is also recorded by our server and sent to PostHog. That uses no cookies or storage on your device, so it doesn't depend on this choice. The [privacy policy](https://html-pdf.com/privacy) explains it and how to object.

## Changing your choice

Click **Cookie settings** in the footer of any page to accept or reject analytics again. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.

## Who sets them

`hp_session`, `hp_consent` and `hp_bid` are set by html-pdf.com. `ph_*` is set by PostHog (EU Cloud) on our behalf. More details are in the [privacy policy](https://html-pdf.com/privacy).
