HTML to PDF API pricing compared (2026)
HTML to PDF API pricing compared: PDFShift, DocRaptor, PDFMonkey, CraftMyPDF, APITemplate.io, Api2Pdf and html-pdf.com, per 1,000 PDFs, from real pricing pages.
Quick answer. At steady monthly volume, usage-based Api2Pdf and the mid tiers of APITemplate.io and PDFMonkey cost the least per document. If your volume is uneven, prepaid credits that never expire (html-pdf.com) avoid paying for quota you don't use. DocRaptor is the most expensive per document, and is built for print-quality CSS.
All prices below were read on each vendor's pricing page in October 2026. They change, so check the linked page before you decide.
Entry plans side by side
This table shows the cheapest paid plan of each API and what 1,000 documents cost on it.
| API | Cheapest paid plan | Included | Per 1,000 | Unused quota | Billed per |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| html-pdf.com | $10 once | 1,000 pages | $10 | never expires | page |
| PDFShift | $9/month | 500 | $18 | resets monthly | conversion |
| DocRaptor | $15/month | 125 | $120 | resets monthly | document |
| PDFMonkey | €5/month | 300 | €16.70 | resets monthly | document |
| CraftMyPDF | $29/month | 1,200 | $24.20 | resets monthly, annual too | document |
| APITemplate.io | $24/month | 3,000 | $8 | not stated | document |
| Api2Pdf | $1/month + usage | pay as you go | about $0.60 | n/a | MB and seconds |
"Per 1,000" divides the plan price by what it includes, so it assumes you use all of it. If you use half of a monthly quota, the real price per document doubles.
At larger volume
This table shows the best rate each vendor lists for bigger plans.
| API | Plan | Included | Per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| html-pdf.com | $250 once | 50,000 pages | $5 |
| PDFShift | $99/month | 25,000 | $3.96 |
| DocRaptor | $1,000/month | 40,000 | $25 |
| PDFMonkey | €300/month | 60,000 | €5 |
| CraftMyPDF | $499/month | 150,000 | $3.33 |
| APITemplate.io | $179/month | 25,000 | $7.16 |
At high, steady volume, monthly plans get cheaper per document than prepaid credits. That's the trade for committing to a subscription every month.
Pages vs documents
This difference changes the math the most. Most APIs count documents, so a 20-page report costs the same as a 1-page receipt. html-pdf.com counts pages, so long documents cost more with us and short ones cost less.
PDFCrowd counts output size instead (1 credit per 0.5 MB), and Api2Pdf charges for bandwidth and compute time. Heavy images or slow pages cost more there.
Which pricing model fits
Use this as a rule of thumb.
- Steady volume, every month, mostly multi-page: a per-document monthly plan (APITemplate.io, PDFMonkey, PDFShift's higher tiers).
- Cheapest possible and you don't mind usage-based billing: Api2Pdf, or self-host Gotenberg for free.
- Uneven volume, side projects, AI agents, automations that run in bursts: prepaid pages that never expire (html-pdf.com).
- Print-grade typesetting (books, complex CSS paged media): DocRaptor, which uses Prince.
What a few real workloads cost
These examples use each vendor's cheapest plan that covers the volume.
| Workload | html-pdf.com | PDFShift | CraftMyPDF |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 one-page invoices a month (600 a year) | $10 a year | $108 a year ($9 plan) | $0 (free plan covers 50) |
| 300 one-page invoices a month (3,600 a year) | $35 a year | $108 a year ($9 plan) | $348 a year ($29 plan) |
| 2,000 one-page receipts in December only | $25 once | $24 for that month | $49 for that month |
| 500 ten-page reports a month (60,000 pages a year) | $350 a year | $108 a year ($9 plan) | $348 a year ($29 plan) |
The last row is where per-page billing loses: html-pdf.com costs the most there. Count your pages, not just your documents, before choosing.

FAQ
What is the cheapest HTML to PDF API?
Per document, usage-based Api2Pdf is the cheapest at about $0.60 per 1,000 small PDFs, and self-hosting Gotenberg costs only the server. Among plan-based APIs, APITemplate.io's $24 plan for 3,000 PDFs is the lowest per document if you use the whole quota every month.
Do HTML to PDF API credits roll over?
Usually not. PDFShift, DocRaptor, PDFMonkey and CraftMyPDF reset monthly quotas, and CraftMyPDF says so even for annual plans. html-pdf.com credits never expire.
Is per-page or per-document pricing better?
Per-document pricing is better for long documents. Per-page pricing is better for one or two page documents like invoices, receipts, tickets and certificates.
How often are these prices checked?
They were read from each vendor's pricing page in October 2026. Vendors change prices, so follow the links before you decide.
